Boosting Teacher Growth, Elevating Student Achievement: Bullseye's Impact on Compass Rose Public Schools
Compass Rose Public Schools serves more than 3,500 students across 13 schools in the great state of Texas. Check out how the district has prioritized instructional support to improve teaching and learning.
THE PARTNER
Compass Rose Public Schools is a 13-school district in San Antonio and Austin, Texas.
Compass Rose prides itself on building strong community and culture while simultaneously providing strong, rigorous, joyful academic experiences for all students. In 2023, Compass Rose teamed up with Bullseye to tackle their instructional support challenges.
THE CHALLENGE
Compass Rose faced inconsistencies in teacher support across the district.
Compass Rose struggled to standardize teacher observations and feedback across multiple campuses. With no consistent approach in place, teachers and administrators were using a mix of Google Docs, Slack, and spreadsheets to track evaluations and instructional feedback. This fragmented system made it difficult to gather insights, track teacher growth, or make meaningful improvements.
"Everybody wanted to use their own system, and it wasn’t evaluator-friendly. We couldn’t pull trends, color-code teacher performance, or effectively act on the data. It just wasn’t useful."

THE SOLUTION
Compass Rose sought a solution that could centralize teacher observation, offer real-time insights, and support ongoing coaching.
The district developed a list of non-negotiables: a platform that could track trends across the school, easily identify struggling teachers and high performers, and review teacher progress over time. They also wanted to foster better communication between teachers and observers, and have an “at-a-glance” dashboard showing school-wide performance.
A referral from Etoile Academy in Houston pointed Compass Rose toward Bullseye—a customizable walkthrough and feedback platform designed to improve instructional practices and ultimately student outcomes.
"It was clear that Bullseye could meet nearly all of our non-negotiables."

THE IMPLEMENTATION
With Bullseye, Compass Rose now has access to real-time insights, actionable feedback, and a data-driven approach to continuous improvement.
Compass Rose implemented Bullseye in 2023, allowing the district to use a simple, four-scale rating system to assess teacher performance. Each teacher is evaluated based on specific focus areas like classroom culture, environment, and lesson planning. Bullseye’s color-coded system (green to red) highlights where teachers excel and where they need improvement, enabling school leaders to quickly identify trends and act on the data.
"We roll out a new focus area every couple of weeks, train our teachers, and provide feedback directly related to what was observed. The platform makes it easy to see how each teacher is progressing and how well they’re executing on key priorities like classroom management or lesson planning."

With Bullseye, Compass Rose has visibility into both “lagging” outcomes—like student test scores—and crucial “leading” measures—such as day-to-day instructional quality. This shift allowed school leaders to proactively address challenges before they impacted student outcomes.
"Many times, we're focused on student growth, but Bullseye gives us the day-to-day picture of how our schools are doing. Now we can see where each classroom stands and provide targeted support to teachers in real time."

THE SUCCESSES
Stronger Classrooms, Better Outcomes!
"Our classrooms are definitely stronger than ever. We have the data to back that up. Student results are improving, and there’s no doubt that Bullseye has played a critical role. Teachers are getting the feedback they need, and they can see themselves growing in the process."
